Writing Paper Pack

I'm adding some new papers to my writer's workshop this year.  I wanted to make some with smaller sized lines for my second graders.

I also added some fun texting papers!  I can't wait to put these in the center.

I made some small squares so I can use them for exit slips.  I haven't done this a lot in the past so I thought I would add this once in awhile to my day.

Happy Writing!

I made these bright letters to label my math, writing, reading, jobs, and scoreboard for my bulletin boards.  I also made labels for my folder baskets and centers.

Keep it up!!!

Are your walls concrete?
Have trouble sticking things to them?

You need to try E-Z UP Clips!!
I wish I was getting paid to promote these but I'm not.
I've been using these for 20 years and I have no complaints.  They will keep items up until you take them down!! They are reusable so you only need a few boxes.

If you like the monsters click the pic to order from her TpT store.

You slide the clips on what you want to put up and then push them onto the wall and Wahla!

Monsters Galore in Room #4

I bought the pom poms from Hobby Lobby.  All three colors were in one package but you can also buy packs of one color.  They also have purple, orange, yellow, black, polka dot and I'm sure more!  They are easy to make by yourself too by googling directions but I was being lazy!!

I hot glued craft foam pieces, pipe cleaners, pom poms and paper to make monster faces.  What fun!  I loved making these guys!  They are so cute.

Last year I had my first grade students paint these monsters with crayon resistance. I saved them over the summer and added them to my board.  I'm moving up a grade so when they come on Back to School night they will get to see their monsters on the wall. My daughter, Abby, hung this all up for me.  What a big helper.

Boys and Girls Bathroom Passes - Monster Themes

Do you have kids asking to go to the bathroom all the time!  I do!

I don't have a formal rule for the bathroom.
I like to let them go when they need to go but not during teaching time.

However, I don't like getting interrupted all the time.
So... I made these hand sanitizers into monster boys and girls.

I used foam sheets and a pom pom for the nose. I used a hot glue gun and tied the ribbon around the top.  They turned out so cute.

I'm going to have the students put this on their desk when they need to go to the bathroom.
This means only one person can go to the bathroom at a time and no one needs to interrupt me
to ask to go to the bathroom.

Monster Theme - Whole Brain Teaching Rule Poster Freebie

If you haven't started using Whole Brain Teaching in your classroom - this is the year!

Starting with the classroom rules is the best way to start.  I've been integrating Whole Brain Teaching for a few years and I started with the rules and added more in as I was feeling more confident.
https://wholebrainteaching.com/  Everything on his site is free.
I'm doing a monster theme this year so of course I had to make new rule posters.
Here are 2 of them.  Click on them to download them for free for Google Docs.

Back-to-School Fright from the Black Lagoon

Do you love the Teacher from the Black Lagoon books?
I do and so do my students.

I started reading the chapter books that Mike Thaler wrote.  These are short books and won't take too long to read.  I read multiple chapters at a time.

I'm going to read Back-to-School Fright the first week of school this year.

Click book to go to Amazon

It's such a funny story about Herbie who really doesn't want to come back to school.  I bet a few kids can make some great connections to this book so I've included a worksheet for them to write about it.

Included are pages for vocabulary, writing, text connections, idioms, story elements and reading responses.  I hope it's helpful to the beginning of your year.

Have a great start to your year.  I get to get into my classroom for the first time this summer on Monday!  Wish me luck!

Keep "Going"!

Is your To Do List growing like mine?

Time for you to download Google Keep which is a Chrome Extension.  I downloaded it to my Android.  I'm not sure  if it's available for Apple.

This is such a simple and easy note taking app to use! And I need easy based on the amount I need to add to my to do list.

Here are some screenshots from my phone.  I started to make a shopping list.  When you check it off it goes to the bottom with a line through it but it doesn't disappear.  You can add it back on if needed.

One of my favorite things about this app is that I can share my list!  Send it to my husband and he can do the shopping on the way home from work!!

You can make multiple lists and label them.

This was a demonstration note included when I downloaded it.  It has the web links.  You can add reminders.

I really like a lot of the Google Chrome apps.  It makes things a lot easier having everything grouped.

How students could use this???

Write down homework that is due.
List materials needed to bring to school for a science experiment.
Practice writing lists during centers.
Send a note to their parents.
List of favorite classroom websites.  Then they'd have access to them at home too.

How could you use this app extension???

Classroom Disaster!

Classroom Tour 2015

Good-bye Old Empty Classroom
This was my room for 15 years.  I loved it.  It was such a great size.
Our district is in the middle of a $7 million renovation!  All new flooring, ceilings, painting, bathrooms, drinking fountains, office and heating and air conditioning!  We can't wait to see what it all looks like when it's done!  However, this means that no one can work in their rooms the entire summer!  Ahhhh!  The earliest we may be able to come in is August 24th and we start inservice on the 27th.  This is how the old room looks now.  Still a lot to be done.

Now onto my new room!
I know you're jealous!  You all want the industrial look too!

No carpet, lights, ceiling, boards, door, window, cupboards, or Promethean and there are many rooms that look like mine.  They have 20 days to get it ready for us!  Oh my!

Don't you love those gigantic tubes in my room?  I have 2 of them.  They are the new AC intake.  I love how it wastes space.  I'll have to be creative in my room arrangement.

My hallway and friend!
Good luck to all of you and the beginning of your year.  I need prayers not luck!!
